Respect, Trust, Fun, Ask Questions! - Our motto when it comes to Pro Wrestling Training.
Training is for everyone! We are not just after Pro Wrestlers, but Referees, Ring Announcers, Commentators. Maybe you want to be a part of the show but not physically. Maybe you just want to be involved and help out backstage or during the show and be a part of a Pro Wrestling organisation, we want to hear from you!
We run training sessions twice a week:
Saturday: 10am until 12pm
Wednesday: 7pm until 9pm
Private sessions also available upon request.
To begin training you must first pass our SPW Induction Day. - CLICK HERE
The Tryout day teaches you all the basic fundamentals to get you ready for our Beginners training session, if we don't think this is for you, we will explain the reasons why and let you down politely.
The Training school was first launched by Troy Crosbie & Marc Perry in 2015. Troy has now stepped away to spend more time with family. Marc oversees the training structure and approves trainers and runs our SPW Tryout Days.
Marc Perry was trained by UK World of Sport Legend Steve Logan and former WWE Superstar Drake Maverick (now a creative writer for WWE shows Raw and Smackdown). He has wrestled all over the UK, Europe, Australia, NZ and worked with some of the biggest names in Wrestling. He has taken part in multiple World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Tryout Camps hosted by NXT Head Coach William Regal & Matt Bloom. Marc has also performed for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
So far the school has produced current New Zealand and SPW Wrestlers: JK Moody, K9, Will Power & Cool Guy Sky, who are regular features on SPW shows and now regular trainers at the school.
Head referee Hayden Brown also runs classes for aspiring referees and classes aimed at improving Wrestlers awareness and understanding of referees.
Guest Trainers have included: WWE's Bea Priestley, NJPW and AEW Stars Will Ospreay, Toa Henare, PROGRESS Wrestling Co-Creators and current WWE Producers Jim Smallman & Glen Joseph, TK Cooper & Dahlia Black, plus many more.
If you would like to come along but not take part in physical acitivty or be a Wrestler you are still welcome. However, to be involved in any capacity means you still need to come along to learn how Pro Wrestling works.
The classes range from Beginner, Intermediate to Advanced and cover not only the in ring skills you need but psychology, terminology and etiquette.
