The SPW Board has decided that the SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when 'Powerhouse' T-Rex takes on 'Hooligan' Marcus Kool in a Southland Street Fight on Friday 15th July in Invercargill. They both made it to the final of the Championship tournament back in March at Fight for Gold when they competed in a Triple Threat match that was eventually won by former champion 'Shooter' Shane Sinclair. The Board feels that both men would have been next in line to recieve a Championship match against the 'Shooter', so under the circumstances surrounding the now vacant Championship this would be the fairest solution to crown a new SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Champion. Back at Fight for Gold the 'Hooligan' was the first to be eliminated from the Triple Threat match when he was pinned by T-Rex. Later on in the match the referee was accidently knocked down which led to Kool coming back into the ring and delivering a penalty kick to the head of T-Rex knocking him out cold, costing him the match and of course, the Championship. The 'Powerhouse' wants to settle the score once and for all the with the 'Hooligan' and recently challenged him to a Southland Street Fight, which will now be for the SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship. This long term rivalrly will be finally settled in the biggest way imagineable. We can confirm the 'Hooligan' has accepted this match and will be responding shortly, for those who have not seen T-Rex's challenge you can do so below. The winner will of course walk into Queenstown the very next night as the SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Champion and will make his first title defence against the winner of the 'Southern Rumble'! This double header weekend is turning out to be MASSIVE, DO NOT MISS IT! Tickets available NOW!

Updated: 19/6/2016 'Shooter' Shane Sinclair speaks out... Statement:
The SPW Board will be enforcing the following Championship rule: *The board is capable of stripping a champion or vacating a championship under crucial conditions First of all we would like to congratulate current SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Champion Shane Sinclair and his partner who are expecting their first child this July. Unfortunately, due to the timing, Shance Sinclair will be unable to compete and defend his Championship this July during our double header weekend in Invercargill & Queenstown. Therefore, we have decided that Shane Sinclair will vacate his Championship so we can crown an active fighting Champion over the July double header weekend. We do this with the greatest of sympathy and will honour Shane Sinclair an immediate Championship rematch when he returns to in ring action after becoming a parent. We understand Shane Sinclair needs to be there for his partner and family. However, SPW also needs a fighting Champion to represent the SPW brand. More details will be released shortly to determine a new SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Champion For any questions regarding this matter, please contact us on [email protected] SPW Management |
