At the Southern Rumble, Hammer suffered a complete bicep rupture and will be out of action until further notice.
SPW's own big man came out of surgery today in high spirits and hopes to be back in the ring soon. Unfortunately, this does rule him out of competition at our next live event Halloween Haunting. Hammer was one of the favourites to win the Southern Rumble, we can only presume this was a huge reason he was unable to get the big victory he has been fighting for since day one. Our thoughts and well wishes are with Hammer, and we hope he has a speedy road to recovery. We will have an update on Hammers condition and future at Halloween Haunting! CLICK BUTTON ABOVE TO GO TO AUCTIONWe made history at the Southern Rumble 2018 by being the biggest New Zealand Independent Wrestling show ever! It was held at ILT Stadium in Invercargill.
To celebrate the event, we had 2 promotional banners made to advertise the show. We still have them, they are in brand new condition, but we have had added some signatures to them! We are putting these bad boys up for auction, with all of the funds to be re-invested back into SPW to help with it's future growth and training school. We have decided to list these on TradeMe so we can keep the owners in New Zealand where they belong, we just want our costs covered, and anything on top of that is a bonus! ON OFFER: SIGNED Tenille Dashwood Pull Up Banner SIGNED Will Ospreay Pull Up Banner What else is included? - Signed Southern Rumble poster by Tenille Dashwood, Bea Priestley & Will Ospreay - FREE download of Southern Rumble via SPW On Demand We want to thank Tenille Dashwood, Will Ospreay and Bea Priestley for being so generous and letting us do this, they are passionate about seeing the New Zealand scene grow and want to see a bright future! Thank You SPW Team History made at ILT Stadium in Invercargill, New Zealand! SPW Southern Rumble 2018 held at the ILT Stadium saw 1,200+ in attendance making it the biggest New Zealand Independent Wrestling show in over 27 years! SPW Statement: ‘We are proud to be a home grown promotion out of Invercargill, New Zealand. We have had fantastic support from the local community, as well as support from the tourism board Venture Southland. Invercargill has a population of 50,000 people, so to be seeing 2% of the population coming along to this is just incredible. We have been selling out shows at our regular venue the Invercargill Working Men’s Club which has a max capacity of 500 people for 2 years now, so the next step was the stadium. To see where we are at in such a short amount of time is pretty mind blowing, so who knows what the future holds, but we are ready to get our heads down and get back to work. Thank you to anyone that has handed over any hard earned dollar to help support us, it is really appreciated and we promise to keep bringing you the very best ‘Wrestling on the Edge of the World!’ The event will be available to view soon via SPW On Demand, link below. T-Rex, Marcus Kool, JK Moody, Charlie Roberts, Hammer, Sky, Ryder, Professor Palmer, Mason Daniels, Jay Carnage, Wana Fight, Gino Gambino, Shane Sinclair, Will Ospreay, Luke Grayson, Michael Richards, Liam Fury, Falcon Kid, Rhys Mathewson to became SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship number one contender The 'Aerial Aassassin' Will Ospreay is currently classed as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world today.
He is the first ever British Born and Youngest Best of the Super Juniors Champion with New Japan Pro Wrestling and is a 2 time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Will has taken a huge interest in the New Zealand wrestling scene, realising it's potential for the future, much like the now thriving British scene he sees New Zealand and Australia having future breakout stars. 'Hooligan' Marcus Kool has been a feature of the New Zealand wrestling scene for the past 3 years and is a former SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Champion, formerly from and trained in the UK. Ospreay currently has wins over Shane Sinclair and current SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Champion JK Moody and believes he is next in line for a title opportunity, but the Hooligan has claimed he needs to go through him first. Kool has been on a downward spiral since losing his Championship and then losing to Hammer in 48 seconds at last years Southern Rumble. He finally broke his losing streak against Taylor Adams at Battle Lines and then proceeded with a violent assault before challenging Ospreay for this years Southern Rumble. We have definitely seen a new, much more aggressive side of the Hooligan as of late, he has stated many times he is the best in this country and should not be treated like a joke. He is setting out to prove it in the biggest match of his career at the biggest show in SPW history, if he can beat Will Ospreay, he proves what he has been saying all along, there really is no question, he has beaten one of the best in the world. If Ospreay wins... we could be looking at a VERY interesting future for the SPW New Zealand Heavyweight Championship and New Zealand wrestling as a whole.
